Thai Beverage (THBEV) is currently trading in a down trend channel after breaking down from a Head and Shoulders. The price target of this breakdown is about $0.45. Dividend Chaser on Hutchison Port poor results
(From Article)
Hutchison Port Holdings Trust fell more than 2%, heading for its sharpest one-day loss in five months, as the trust is expected to report weak results later in the day.
The trust, backed by Asia's richest man Li Ka-Shing, saw its unit price down nearly 7% so far this year, compared with the 2.3% rise in Singapore's benchmark Straits Times Index.
HPHT, which owns and operates port assets in Hong Kong and the neighbouring Chinese city of Shenzhen, fell as much as 3.3% to match a low of US$0.73 hit nearly four weeks ago as trading volume more than doubled its 30-day average daily volume.
“Earnings typically build in 2Q towards the 3Q summer peak; however, the impact of the dock workers strike, slower PRC export volumes and changes in shipping patterns are expected to have combined negative with the pernicious effect of higher wages to keep NPAT (Net Profit After Tax) at around 1Q13's levels,” said Credit Suisse analysts in a research note.
The net profit in the previous quarter declined 15.5% on the year to HK$380.3 million ($62.15 million).
Credit Suisse maintained its “underperform” call on the trust, with a target price of US$0.72.
The trust is due to report its earnings for the quarter ended June 30 after market closes.
The Straits Times Index was up 0.1% to 3,241.94 points.

Dividend Chaser on Roasting Chicken
(From Article)
A mix of onions, celery, carrots, and/or potatoes
Olive oil or butter
Kosher salt
Pepper
Optional Extras: Lemons, garlic, fresh herbs (like thyme, rosemary, or sage)
Equipment
Roasting pan, large cast iron skillet, or other chicken-sized oven-safe vessel
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
2. Peel and chop your vegetables into wedges and bite-sized pieces. Arrange them in an even layer on the bottom of the pan to make a bed for the chicken. Have a small bowl of salt and pepper ready, with about a tablespoon of salt mixed with about a teaspoon of pepper.
3. Over the sink, slit the plastic wrapping around your chicken (if it's still wrapped up) and drain out any juices or blood trapped in the plastic. Reach inside the chicken's body cavity and remove the bag of giblets. The giblets can be discarded, saved for stock, or used to make gravy later on.
4. Pat the chicken dry very thoroughly with paper towels or a kitchen rag. Make sure to absorb any liquid behind the wings or legs. Blot inside the body cavity too, getting the chicken as dry as you can, inside and out.
5. Rub the chicken with olive oil or butter. Rub the oil or butter all over the chicken, paying special attention to the breast and the drumsticks.
6. Sprinkle the outside of the chicken generously with salt and pepper, and rub a little salt and pepper inside the cavity as well.
7. If desired, stuff the inside of the chicken with halved lemons, whole cloves of garlic, or herbs.
8. Set the chicken breast-side-up on the bed of vegetables. The chicken should be lifted an inch or two above the pan by the vegetables.
9. Put the chicken in the oven and lower the oven temperature to 400°F.
10. Set a timer for 1 hour and go about your business.
11. After an hour, check if the chicken is done by inserting an instant-read thermometer in the meatiest part of its thigh. The internal temperature should be at least 165° for the chicken to be done. If you're under, put it back in to cook for another 5 to 10 minutes and check it again.
12. Let the chicken rest for about 15 minutes. During this time, you can prepare a salad or side dish or whisk some flour into the pan juices to make gravy. You can lift the roasted vegetables underneath the chicken out of the chicken fat left behind in the pan, and serve them as a side dish too.
13. Carve the chicken and serve. (Look for an in-depth tutorial on how to carve a roast chicken tomorrow!)
Additional Notes:
• You can change the flavor of the chicken by adding a spice rub along with the salt and pepper. We like Chinese 5-spice blend, za'atar spices, and ras el hanout.
Dividend Chaser on strawberry blackheads remover
(From Article)
i've tried many blackhead removers on the market, including stuff like Biore's pore strip (shiok to peel off but abit pain!), massage oil like Faceshop's Green tea oil (leaves my nose feeling oily...) and masks like Kose's mask white (super freaking expensive)! however, Sophie Monk's Strawberry Blackhead ByeBye set is really special cos it comes with three different products that you need to use all together for maximum efficacy!
Strawberry Blackhead Byebye set comes with three products labeled 1, 2 and 3! 1 is the Deep Sebum Softener, 2 is theSebum Purifying Mask and 3 is the Pure Treatment Essence! it's really very simple to use!
make sure your face is clean, then just use the Deep Sebum Softener to gently massage your nose, so as to allow the blackheads and etc to be removed more easily! make sure your nose is still wet when you proceed to step 2, which is application of the Sebum Purifying Mask!
this is what the texture of the mask looks like. it's more watery than i expected, so be careful when you're squeezing it out of the tube, cos you might end up like me, squeezed too much of the product out! D: anyway, it smells totally yummy!! kind of like strawberry flavored pocky :D there are also little beads in it so it's slightly grainy!
you need to apply the layer of mask thick enough, if not you won't be able to peel it off properly when it dries! apply it all over your T zone if required, for me i just did the nose and surrounding area!
WTF PPL!!! look at all those disgusting blackheads!!!
you gotta wait til the mask is totally dry before peeling it off, if not you'd be left with bits of wet mask all over your nose!! i think it takes at least 30 minutes to dry properly, after which you just need to gently peel it from the bottom to the top! not painful at all! i was like super grossed out with all the blackheads and tiny facial hairs that the mask removed!!!!! D: D: D: included a close up HAHAHA for your viewing pleasure. (i think i'm a little obsessed cos i couldn't stop staring at all the blackheads on the mask it was just so grossly fascinating....)
in conclusion, i pronounce the blackheads removing a success!!! some of the blackheads that didn't come out (too big i think!) were easily squeezed out (since they were already softened with the Deep Sebum Softener...) with that metal extractor thingy. i squeezed them out before using the Pure Treatment Essence to tighten my pores! :D :D :D the essence dries to a non-sticky/oily feeling so you don't even have to wash anything off after using the product! two thumbs up for this product, cos i really love it! ;D

Dividend Chaser on police detained reckless Spain train driver
(From Article)
SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA: Spanish police said Friday they have detained the driver of a speeding train that crashed in the nation's deadliest rail disaster in decades, accusing him of criminal recklessness.
The country was in mourning over Wednesday's horrific tragedy, which police said had killed 78 people including foreigners and left many more injured.
The 52-year-old driver faces criminal accusations including "recklessness" over the crash near the pilgrimage city of Santiago de Compostela, said Jaime Iglesias, police chief in the northwestern Galicia region.
The grey-haired driver, who reportedly boasted of his love for speed online, was detained Thursday in hospital where he had been under police surveillance, Iglesias told a news conference.
A Spanish judge had ordered police to question the man, identified as Francisco Jose Garzon Amo in local media, which published photographs of him with blood covering the right side of his face.
He has not been charged with a crime and has yet to be quizzed by police about the tragedy.
Spain's leading El Pais newspaper said the driver of the train -- which was carrying over 200 passengers and crew -- had been unable to brake in time.
Seventy-eight passengers perished, six of whom have yet to be identified, according to a revised police toll.
Four foreigners are among the dead -- an American, an Algerian, a Mexican and a French national, local officials said.
Iglesias said forensic police were working with "mangled bodies", some of which were difficult to identify because of their injuries.
The crash also injured more than 100 people, a number of whom remain in serious condition in hospital including three children, Galicia health services said.
Most of the injured are Spanish but at least eight were foreigners from Argentina, Britain, Colombia, the United States and Peru.
A dramatic 10-second video from a railway security camera appears to show the train rocketing around a curve, slamming into a concrete wall at the side of the track as the engine overturned.
Carriages piled on top of each other in a smouldering wreckage of mangled steel, with one carriage flying into the air before coming to a rest on top of a six-metre (18-foot) siding.
Smoke billowed from the gutted cars as bodies were strewn across the tracks.
The driver, while still trapped in his cab, told railway officials by radio that the train had taken the curve at 190 kilometres (118 miles) an hour, unidentified investigation sources told El Pais, more than double the 80 kph speed limit on that section of track.
"I was going at 190! I hope no one died because it will weigh on my conscience," he was quoted as saying.
El Pais said the driver told them a speed alarm had been activated on his control panel, adding:. "He tried to brake without being able to avoid the tragedy."
He had been with state rail company Renfe for 30 years and had 13 years' experience as a driver.
Media reports described Garzon Amo, one of two drivers on the train, as a speed freak who once gleefully posted a picture on his Facebook page of a train speedometer at 200 kph.
A caption read: "I am on the edge, I can't go faster or else I will be fined."
Spanish newspapers quoted another of his posts as saying: "What fun it would be to race the Guardia Civil (police) and pass them, causing their radar to blow up hehehe. What a huge fine that would be for Renfe."
The Facebook page has since been taken down.
Secretary of state for transport Rafael Catala said the crash "seems to be linked to excessive speed" but that he was awaiting the findings of the judicial probe.
Renfe said the train -- a model able to adapt between high speed and normal tracks -- had no technical problems and had just passed an inspection on the morning of the accident.
Experts have raised questions about the track's speed signalling system.
Since high-speed trains use the route, it has been equipped with an automatic speed control system known as the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS), under which a train's brakes can be automatically applied if speeding.
But the secretary general of Spain's train drivers' union, Juan Jesus Garcia Fraile, told public radio the system was not in place at the crash site.
The high-speed track linking Ourense, Santiago de Compostela and La Coruna in Galicia is one of Spain's newest, having been inaugurated in December 2011.
Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, a native of Santiago de Compostela, declared three days of national mourning after visiting the scene Thursday.
It was Spain's deadliest rail accident since 1944 when hundreds were killed in a train collision, also between Madrid and Galicia. In 1972, 77 people died when a train derailed between Cadix and Seville.
Many of the passengers were thought to be on their way to a festival in honour of Saint James, the apostle who gave his name to Santiago de Compostela, an annual event that draws crowds of pilgrims to the town.
All festivities have now been cancelled.

Dividend Chaser on New prince of Britain
(From Article)
Prince William, Kate, show off newborn royal baby boy
LONDON — A beaming Prince William and his wife, Kate, emerged from a London hospital yesterday (July 23) with their newborn baby boy, presenting the world with a first glimpse of the prince who is third in line to the British throne.
The royal couple, both 31, looked happy and relaxed as they waved at the crowds of journalists and onlookers gathered outside London’s St. Mary’s Hospital, posing for photographs and joking with reporters.
Kate, wearing a baby blue polka dot Jenny Packham dress, smiled and waved as she stepped out from the hospital doors with the future monarch in her arms.
“It’s very emotional. It’s such a special time. I think any parent will know what this feeling feels like,” she told journalists.
Kate then gave the baby to her husband, who, cradling their child, said: “He’s got her looks, thankfully. He’s got a good pair of lungs on him, that’s for sure.”
William added: “He’s a big boy. He’s quite heavy,” and laughed when a reporter asked him about the baby’s hair.
“He’s got way more than me, thank God,” he said.
The couple also revealed that William has had a go at changing the infant’s first diaper. “He’s very good at it,” Kate said.
The new parents drew whoops and excited applause from well-wishers as they revealed the newest member of Britain’s royal family. William said they’re still trying to decide what to name the little prince.
The couple re-entered the hospital to place the child in a car seat before re-emerging to get into an SUV. William drove them away — palace officials said they will head to an apartment in Kensington Palace and spend the night there.
The young family’s first public appearance together has been the moment that the world’s media and crowds of onlookers camped outside the hospital had long been waiting for, and the photographs snapped yesterday are likely to be reprinted for decades as the baby grows into adulthood and his role as a future king.
The appearance recalls a similar one three decades ago, when Princess Diana and Prince Charles carried a newborn William out to pose for photographs on the same steps in 1982.
Katie Allan, 26, was elated to witness the 2013 edition. “William gave us a wave as they drove away so it was perfect. Days like this really bring the country together,” she said.
Earlier, William’s father, Charles, and his wife, Camilla, as well as Michael and Carole Middleton — Kate’s parents — visited the young family at the hospital.
Charles called the baby “marvelous,” while a beaming Carole Middleton described the infant as “absolutely beautiful.”
It was not immediately clear when Queen Elizabeth II would meet the newborn heir.
The couple’s Kensington Palace office said Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, gave birth to the 8 pound, 6 ounce (3.8 kilogram) baby boy at 4:24 p.m. Monday.
The news was greeted with shrieks of joy and applause by hundreds of Britons and tourists gathered outside the hospital’s private Lindo Wing and Buckingham Palace.
Revelers staged impromptu parties at both locations, and large crowds crushed against the palace gates to try to catch a glimpse — and a photograph – of the golden easel placed there to formally announce the birth.
Hundreds were still lining up outside the palace gates Tuesday to get near the ornate easel.
In London, gun salutes were fired, celebratory lights came on, and bells chimed at Westminster Abbey, where William and Kate wed in a lavish ceremony that drew millions of television viewers worldwide.
Halfway around the world, royalist group Monarchy New Zealand said it had organised a national light show, with 40 buildings across the islands lit up in blue to commemorate the royal birth, including Sky Tower in Auckland, the airport in Christchurch, and Larnach Castle in the South Island city of Dunedin.
A similar lighting ceremony took place in Canada; Peace Tower and Parliament buildings in the capital, Ottawa, were bathed in blue light, as was CN Tower in Toronto.
The baby is just a day old — and may not be named for days or even weeks — but he already has a building dedicated to him.
Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said an enclosure at Sydney’s Taronga Park Zoo would be named after the prince as part of a gift from Australia. The government would donate 10,000 Australian dollars (S$11,740) on the young prince’s behalf toward a research project at the zoo to save the endangered bilby, a rabbit-like marsupial whose numbers are dwindling in the wild.
British media joined in the celebration, with many newspapers printing souvenir editions.
“It’s a Boy!” was splashed across many front pages, while Britain’s top-selling The Sun newspaper temporarily changed its name to “The Son” in honour of the tiny monarch-in-waiting.
The birth is the latest driver of a surge in popularity for Britain’s monarchy, whose members have evolved, over several decades of social and technological change, from distant figures to characters in a well-loved national soap opera.
“I think this baby is hugely significant for the future of the monarchy,” said Kate’s biographer, Claudia Joseph.
For some, though, it was all a bit much.
“It’s a baby, nothing else,” said Tom Ashton, a 42-year-old exterminator on his way to work. “It’s not going to mean anything to my life.” AP

Dividend Chaser on POSB new invest-saver
(From Article)
This POSB invest saver lets you invest in an index ETF from as low as $100/month. The index ETF used is the NIkko AM Singapore STI Exchange Traded Fund. This ETF tracks the Singapore Straits Times index similiar to SPDR STI ETF.
Benefits of POSB Invest-Saver
1) Invest from as low as $100
This is beneficial for those who do not have a huge capital to start with
2) Low transaction cost
Sales charge is fixed at 1% per transaction. If you invest $100, sales charge is $1.
3) Dollar cost averaging
By buying every month, you can ride out the gyrations of the market. No market timing is needed. As an index fund goes up in the long run, the longer you invest in it, the smoother the returns
In channel news asia, it was written that we can expect a return of 2-3% annually. I've checked on the fund factsheet of Nikko STI ETF. The 3 year annualised return for this fund was 5-6%. This fund also gives dividends of about 1-2% annually. The dividends payout by the fund will be credited to your POSB invest saver account.
If the returns is just 2-3% annually, it would not be that attractive to me as it barely covers the inflation rate in Singapore. I would think that the returns should be more than 3% judging from the funds performance
This product is beneficial to those who want to invest but do not have the capital or knowledge to do so. A return of 2-3% is better than putting it in the bank and the best thing is you can withdraw your money anytime. It is stated that no fees will be incurred when you sell your unit. This is subjected to change as indicated on POSB website. However in any investment, there are still risks involved. The returns are not guaranteed and you may still lose money in the short run. In the long run, investments generally return profits.

Dividend Chaser on SPH IPO reit
(From Article)
SPH Reit launched its IPO at the top end of the book-building range of $0.90 and the placement tranche was a whopping 42x and I have to admit I am surprised by this ‘overwhelming’ demand which unfortunately depressed the yield and potential upside.
Issue details
Placement tranche: 224.902m Units
Public tranche: 83.982m Units
Cornerstone: 251m Units
Application closing date: 22 July 2013 12pm
Listing date: 24 July 2013 2pm
First distribution: On or before 27 Feb 2014
Forecast yield
At $0.90, SPH Reit will distribute a forecasted annualized yield of 5.58% for 2H FY2013 and 5.79% for FY2014
What I like about the REIT
- Premier upscale retail mall at the heart of Orchard Road
- SPH continue to hold 70%, which creates strong alignment of interest
- Fresh 99 year leasehold on Paragon and close to 99 years on Clementi Mall
- Exposure to the healthcare services sector which is resilient (via Paragon)
- Right of First Refusal on SPH’s properties.
- Leverage of 27.3%
What I don’t really like
- Paid a slight premium to NAV
- Artificial income support by SPH to Clementi Mall
Peer valuation (17 Jul 2013)
- Starhill Global is trading around yield of 5.67% and a price to book of 0.88x (leverage 30%)
- Capitamall is trading around 5.03% and a price to book of 1.21x (leverage 35%)
- Frasers CT is trading around 5.6% and a price to book of 1.24x (leverage 30%)
- Suntec is trading around 5.76% and price to book of 0.77x (leverage 36%)
Mr IPO’s views
Looking at the peers’ valuation, the yield seemed to be between 5% (Capitamall) to 5.7% (Suntec) and between 0.77x (Suntec) to 1.24x (Capitamall) in terms of price-to-book. I will not use the price to book as the benchmark has proved to be too wide ranging.
Assuming a yield of between 5% to 5.7%, the trading range will be between 88c and 99c.
Don’t expect any fireworks as the REIT is priced fairly. The “overwhelming” institutional demand and “over-allotment” stablisation will probably lend support to SPH with slight upside potential.
I will give it a 1 chilli rating. I would have given it a higher rating if it had been priced at 85c.
Investors may be better off buying into SPH which gives the investor an exposure into both REIT and publishing. (I have not done any work on this idea though, you may want to work out your sums and tell me the results).

Dividend Chaser on Pasarbella at grandstand (formerly turf city)
(From Article)
** Warning: Really long post ahead **
I’ve wanted to visit PasarBella since it was featured on 8 Days, but not all the shops were opened so we’ve delayed visiting till finally one day Yina decided to say yes to my insistent suggestion of PasarBella since we were gonna be in the area anyway. *silent yes*
Pasar = market (you know, the pasar (pasat) your mum goes to every week for fresh produce?)
Bella = beautiful, in italian
PasarBella, if I remember correctly, is a 4 million dollar venture started by the two previous partners from the SugarDaddy group (they brought you Antoinette & PiqueNique!), and they’ve since sold their shares and left SD just for this market idea/investment they believe in. (P.S. – The shares they sold off netted them a 70% profit on their investment, and one of the partners is just 24 years old this year!)
For more information, head over topasarbella.com… or read on!
Situated in The Grandstand (formerly known as Turf City, not to be confused with Turf Club which is super far away) along Eng Neo / Dunearn road, the market, which is the“first multi-sensory grocery shopping destination in Singapore” is housed on an area of over 30,000 square meters, and for now they have about 30 unique stores from around the world, and it is indeed nothing less than beautiful.
The markets operates from 930am – 7pm (some stores may open beyond 7pm) and the restaurants are usually opened from 10am – 10pm.
The inside is quite a far cry from what you see outside when you first drive into The Grandstand. For the better, of course! You’ll see what I mean in more pictures below ; D
It was my first trip there, and being the lazy woman I was, I tried looking for a lot nearest to one (any!) of the entrances and luckily for me, I found one just outside the drop off / pick up point after circling the area twice! There are two drop off / pickup points and they’re at the north / east entrance. The one you see below is the east entrance of PasarBella. There isn’t a sheltered carpark, so be ready to get scorched if you park too far away, or your ass burnt if you leave your car out there for too long.
Parking is plentiful, but it’s just a matter of how far you’re willing to walk. Try parking at the east entrance (go one round to the back), which is located in the north carpark and you’ll find that it’s a lot nearer than parking on the two level open carpark area. I’m sorry for the horrible description, but it’s really hard for me to describe the place – couldn’t possibly capture a picture while driving alone!
Once you enter from the east side, you’re immediately greeted by a flower shop! These are what you’ll find at Poppy Flora Studio!
{ Poppy Flora Studio }
website & opening hours: Mon – Sun: 9.30am – 7pm
“Poppy Flora Studio is a style savvy florist devoted to creating your ultimate floral design. We create floral styles that are far beyond typical styling ideas and we craft designs that are both personal and incredibly charming.”
(information plucked from pasarbella’s official website)
I can imagine my friend Magdalyn (who’s been bitten by a flower arrangement bug recently) twacking her husband on the arm and telling him where to go this coming weekend already. Hahahaha.
They also have plenty of artificial and pressed/dried blooms, and the area around the shop is great for photo-taking!
Ahhhh being greeted by such a beautiful sight makes me very happy.
As you walk on and explore the place, you’ll see more stores which are uniquely decorated and furnished – they have an extremely European vibe to them and reminds me so much of the beautiful market I went to in Barcelona.
Just next to Poppy Flora Studios, you’ll findBitesize Monster (waffles!) and Salad Stop! (self explanatory).
And on the other side of the flower shop, you’ll see Huber’s Deli, a butcher shop for some fresh cuts of meat!
{ Huber’s Deli }
website & opening hours: Mon – Sun: 9.30am -7pm
“At Huber’s Deli, customers can look forward to savouring Huber’s signature sausages and cold cuts freshly cooked, prepared and served in a thin crusted bun with toppings of your choice. Our sausages and cold cuts, made with only top quality ingredients, have no added MSG and fillers. Sliced to order air-dried meats, hams, cold cuts, bacon and pre-packed sausages are also available for take-away.”
And next to Huber’s Deli you’ll find Maru Shabu with their adorable neon cartoon sign, almost quietly hidden away in a corner.
{ Mara Shabu }
facebook & opening hours: Mon – Sun: 11.30am – 3pm, 6pm – 10pm
“Mara Shabu is one of the few hotpot restaurants in Singapore to offer organic vegetables on the buffet line. Ranging from the freshest produce to premium Wagyu beef and quality seafood harvested from local fisheries, there is something for everyone. The ingredients are as natural as they can be, with minimal processing.”
You won’t be able to miss Charly T’s, which has a long bar all decked out in red.
{ Charly T’s }
website & opening hours: Mon – Sun: 9am – 8pm
“Famous for their “Best in the City” signature rotisserie chicken and wallet-friendly prices,Charly T’s serves comfort food from around the world prepared with fresh local ingredients. The home-grown brand’s third outlet has a friendly takeaway concept with their most popular mains, wraps and snacks.”
Does “T” stand for Tan? : x
And after Charly T’s, you wouldn’t miss the biggest stall in PasarBella – Oceans of Seafood!
{ Oceans of Seafood }
facebook page & opening hours:
Retail: Mon – Sun 10am – 9.30pm
International Restaurant: 11.30am – 9.30pm
Japanese Restaurant, Mon – Fri: Lunch @ 11.30am – 2.30pm, Dinner @ 5.30pm – 9.30pm (last order)
Japanese Restaurant, Sat & Sun: Whole day 11.30am – 9.30pm (last order)
“At Oceans of Seafood, we pride ourselves in providing seafood of the highest quality at affordable prices. From our Western and Japanese retail outlets to our restaurants, everyone can enjoy the best of what the world’s oceans have to offer in a fun and family-friendly atmosphere.”
Yes, they offer the food two ways… Internatonal or Japanese!
And on the international side we have lobsters, mussels and oysters!
And when you exit Oceans of Seafood, you’ll find Le Patio!
{ Le Patio }
website & opening hours: Mon – Fri: 9.30am – 8.30pm | Sat, Sun, PH: 9am – 8.30pm
“Le Patio’s rustic simplicity and homely fare is a guaranteed sensory explosion of taste, sight and smell. Enjoy a hearty offering of paella and top it off with French crepes for dessert. The French lemonade will also add some zest and hit all the right spots for a truly refreshing experience.”
The Paella looked really yummy, but I had a bit of soup before lunch so I wasn’t very interested in it cos it’d be too filling!
Da Paolo Gastronomia’s desserts called out to me though, so I took away a berry crumble while Yina ordered her food! We contemplated Da Paolo’s pizzas and other pastries for a while but only got a croissant in the end.
{ Gastronomia Da Paolo }
website & opening hours: Mon – Thu: 9.30am – 7.30pm | Fri – Sun: 9.30am – 9.30pm
“Choose from a mouth-watering array of professionally prepared dishes, such as homemade pasta, sauces, salads, pizza, and sandwiches. Indulge in delicious pastries, cakes or our much-celebrated tiramisu. One can also complement the meal with fine wine, Tekoe tea or Bristot coffee.”
Almost impossible to miss the neon sign, but the entrance to the Cheese Ark is a narrow little lane, with little side tables along the way in. As the neon signboard suggests, this place would carry almost every imaginable kind of cheese available. Yes, get all your cheese here.
Just behind Da Paolo’s Gastronomia, you’ll find Five & Spice with an interesting menu display!
{ Five & Spice }
website & opening hours: Mon – Thu: 9.30am – 8pm | Fri – Sun & PH: 9.30am – 10pm
“FIVE & SPICE KITCHEN is a take-out deli and eat-in tasting kitchen featuring a rotating menu of our favorite small plates and dishes. Pates and pestos, marmalades and marinades, and a daily variety of Asian and Western comfort foods made fresh from our very own CICELY brand of the finest herbs, spices, sauces and condiments. Look for a daily selection of naturally spiced and flavored iced teas, bubbly and cocktails too.”
Yina got the truffle mushroom cream pasta from Five & Spice and it was soooooo good! But it’s a little gelat if you don’t share it between two (of cos, I shamelessly helped her out with it ahems).
PasarBella advocates cleaning up after yourself – though I think they should get bigger bins or something. It was filled up in no time! There were people around to help wipe down the table so that it remains clean. It’s free seating, so you can bring your food around the entire compound (unless otherwise stated), wherever you choose to seat!
And if you need to ease yourself after all that food…
HAHAHAHA I think the drawing’s really cute! It’s mighty obvious where you should head to to relieve yourselves. Heh.
Around the dining area, just beside the salad stop! (yes we’ve gone a small round by then) you’ll find Nibbles by Rabbit Carrot Gun. Quiches & pies galore!
{ Nibbles by Rabbit Carrot Gun }
website & opening hours: Mon – Sun: 10am – 7pm
“Nibbles by Rabbit Carrot Gun are purveyors of a fine array of British classics, and they pride themselves on creating exceptionally honest, whole-hearted English food using seasonal and organic produce. Expect to find homemade pies, Scotch eggs, signature quiches, hand-tied sandwiches in fresh organic bread and more to come. For those with a sweet tooth, there are treats such as English scones and traditional cakes.”
Around the corner, you’ll also find Bella Bakery. Cakes, macarons & donuts to satisfy that sweet tooth of yours!
Beyond this area, you’ll find more trading stalls than eateries. The first one behind us would be a wine shop, Merchants.
Yes, wine by the glass. My alcoholic friends (namely Mag, Veron & Yanny) would be so happy to hear that, hahaha.
If wine isn’t really your cup of tea, there’s BEER too! In large neon letters!

I’ve been having a huge craving for beers, but I’m always driving so I have yet to get my fix of kronenbourg blanc!!! Rawr. One of these days…
The Little Provence sells… *drumrolls* TRUFFLE OIL. TRUFFLE OIL AND TRUFFLE SALTTTTTTTTTTTT (images and the scent of truffle fries float right into my mind) and many kinds of olive oil!
{ Little Provence }
website & opening hours: Mon – Sun: 9.30am – 7pm
“The food product range encompasses a wide choice of tapenades, olive oils, vinegars, truffles, artisanal jams, chocolates and lavender products. The organic wine selection provides well-chosen rosé, white and red wines. Little Provence aims to invite customers to taste, experience, understand and enjoy the wonderful products and the spirit of the Provence way of life.”
Little Provence also sells candles and lavender scent bags – I want to head back to check those out soon!
After Little Provence, there’s a little walkway which leads you to the Southern side of PasarBella! And just before you hit the walkway, there’s this shop which sells adorable stationery and has a baby giraffe stuffed toy which we couldn’t resist taking a picture with. HELLO, JAYNE! (hehehe)
Right smack in the walkway, you’ll pass by a shop which sells postcards and drawings of / by the paper girl, which Yina remarked is cute and is a little tim burton-ish.
I really love the postered wall, the huge logo and the multitude of colors on one wall!
Pass by this and you’ll be greeted with a long passage of organic food!
{ The Organic Grocer }

BABY POTATOES!!!! I WANTTTTTTT!
And oh there’s also a little corner for kids with TV, miniature cardboard furniture and all! Cute!
I was cajoled into taking pictures with a huge 5kg watermelon over at SG Organic!!!
Well, exactly what the neon sign on a wall of pallets said, except that I didn’t look _that_ calm, haha.
Other than the huge watermelons and huge cabbages, they also have carrots in 3 different colors! I’ve asked, and they told me it tastes the same. I’m not sure why you’d need a purple and orange carrot then, but it’s so interesting!
{ SG Organic }
website & opening hours: Mon – Sun: 9.30am – 7pm
“Unearth the simple pleasures of real food with SG Organic. We are passionate about providing fresh, Australian Certified Organic produce to the Singapore market.”
If you find PasarBella too far, SG Organic does home deliveries which saves you all the trouble!
Tangy Tangerines, the little neighbour of both SG Organic and The Organic Grocer had me wanting to bring a sack full of fruits back! I think one day I just might!
Pass by all the organic foodstuffs and you’ll find yourself face to face with a tea house!
{ The 1872 Clipper Tea Co. }
website & opening hours: Mon – Fri: 9.30am – 7pm | Sat & Sun: 9.30am – 8pm
“The 1872 Clipper Tea Co.’s mini Tea Bar serves up its best-selling teas, brewed and prepared with an adventurous twist. Top off any iced-tea with its bespoke tea-infused ice cream, or go for a cup of hot tea served with a special something. Tea lovers will get to sample and experience the flavours and freshness of The 1872 Clipper Teas at its “Tea Indulgence” corner.”
Other than a huge selection of teas (in both tea leaves and tea bag formats), you can also acquire some tea time accessories here!
I love the packaging and the design of the place – navy blue and white plus clean typography = always a winning factor! I left with a box of 24 teabags of Earl Grey Tea and I LOVE IT. It doesn’t end off siap, and I think I’ll come back and get the travel box set ($19.90) which contains 1 of each type/flavor of tea (16 in total, if I remember correctly)!
Cookies and drinks are available here too!
If tea isn’t your cup of tea (urrrrrhhh….), there’s always Dutch Colony Coffee Co, which is right beside Clipper Tea Co!
{ Dutch Colony Coffee Co }
website & opening hours: Sun – Thu: 9.30am – 7pm | Fri & Sat: 9.30am – 9pm
“Inspired by the significant historical role of the Dutch in the spread of coffee plantations from India to Java and later on to Central and South America, the first establishment of Dutch Colony Coffee Co. aspires to provide a complete bean to cup experience. The smell, sight and taste concept will allow you to enjoy freshly roasted specialty coffee selections with a variety of brewing methods. Coupled with selected pastries and pies, this experience is crafted to satisfy your senses.”
This post is really getting too long, so I’m gonna just add on photos of the other smaller eateries and a balloon shop!
