SINGAPORE — CPF members will continue to receive an interest rate of 4 per cent on their Special and Medisave accounts (SMA) between July and September this year.
This is in line with the Government’s announcement last September to maintain the 4-per-cent-per-annum floor rate for interest earned on all SMA and Retirement Account (RA) monies until the end of the year.
Savings in Special and Medisave accounts currently earn either 4 per cent or the 12-month average yield of 10-year Singapore Government Securities (10YSGS) plus 1 per cent, whichever is higher. The interest rate on SMA savings is adjusted quarterly based on 10YSGS rates over the preceding 12-month period.
Between June 2012 and last month, the average yield of the 10YSGS plus 1 per cent was 2.43 per cent, allowing for a 4-per-cent interest rate, said the Central Provident Fund Board yesterday. Channel NewsAsia
