Neighbours were surprised to see police officers at Block 704 West Coast Road last night.
They found out later that a nine-year-old boy had died from his injuries after he was taken to National University Hospital.
He had been found unconscious at the foot of the block.
A police spokesman said they received a call for assistance at 6.08pm.
A 31-year-old woman, believed to be the boy’s mother, has been arrested and will be charged with murder in court tomorrow.
The charge carries the death penalty.
